Every person has a unique personality that reflects their preferences and attitudes.  It is important to recognize your own traits and tendencies to channel them towards a thoughtful expression of who you are and how you want to live. 

Some people are very analytical and practical while others are more creative and spontaneous.  If you are an engineer starting the design process by spending your time thinking about what kind of hardware will be required you may need to challenge yourself to be more creative.  If you are an artist dreaming of attaching a round deck to your square house you may need to realize that this may be very difficult to build. 

Knowing yourself can allow you to consciously adjust your own approach to design.  As you move forward you will need to consider your day to day lifestyle and how you want to live.  Are you a private person who enjoys peace and quiet or are you the life of the party?  Do you cherish time spent with your family?  Do you enjoy the outdoors?  The more you know about yourself the better you will be prepared to develop the ground work for your deck design.
