Post Beam Connectors

An alternative method of attaching support posts to beams rather than bolting through a notched post is to use a post beam connector.  A post beam connector is a piece of hardware that straddles the top of the support post and nails into the side of the beam.  This method is sometimes necessary if you are planning on installing your guard rail posts to the inside of the deck frame because notching a support post would restrict access for applying the rail posts.
