| I have recently had a roof over my sunroom coated with a water proof rubber membrane. This roof is also the patio area of my in-law suite on our 2nd floor. I have seen one demonstration of using contact cement to adhere the sleeper boards to t he roof, and them attaching the deck boards to the sleepers, thus eliminating any nail or screws hole into the rubber membrane. Is this an acceptable procedure, and are there realtively shallow sleeper and deck boards that can be used for this purpose?

| Hi Sebastian, thanks for your question and using the forum. I think the sleepers need to have a rubber strip attached to the bottom of the sleeper lumber and then glue the assembly to the roof. There are two types of contact cement for rubber roofing. One glues the rubber to itself and the other to wood. But not wet pressure treated wood. The wood would need to be dry or purchase Kiln dry PT lumber for the sleepers. Thanks

| Sebastian, Use the contact cement for rubber. A thin coat is all you need. You do need to add another strip of rubber under the sleeper as an extra protection because the sleepers will move to some degree. By all means no nails, screws etc into your rubber membrane. Don't try to use regular exterior adhesive since it will get hard and can damage the membrane over time. Clemens
